Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she earned an Emmy Award. Her appearances include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a domestic worker. Her childhood was spent in a home with four other brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed of becoming an official reporter for the court. She began modelling at the age of 14 and later landed commercials when she moved into New York. Her first job as an actor came as an innocent teenager in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film and dramas after that. Her career hasn't been good or satisfying personal life. There were two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcohol addiction. In 2005 she lost the custody of her sole son.
